Introduction

It's all about accelerating time-to-market with visual design environments. Many application domains such as image/video processing, signal processing, text analytics, etc. lend themselves well to the visual programming paradigm. Visual programming is a higher-level view that closely resembles the way we naturally think about these applications in terms of processing pipelines. The components of the visual language abstract away from the detail of the fundamental operations common to the application domain so that we can focus on the unique aspect of our particular application. The end result is applications take less time to develop, are easier to maintain and are more robust.
